Fr. Dr. Peter ZHAO Jianmin was born on 10 Jan. 1963, in Hebei Province.
In Sept. 1984 he entered Beijing Diocesan Seminary and was ordained to priesthood on 21 Dec. 1989.
After his ordination he was working as the dean of the study department of the Seminary.
In Sept. 1992 he was appointed as the assistant priest of the Cathedral of Beijing Diocese.
In March, 1994 he was appointed as the procurator of North Church of Beijing Diocese.
From Nov. 1994 to Sept. 1995 he studied in England.
From Sept. 1995 to Sept. 1997 he studied in K. U. Leuven, Belgium, for Licentiate in Canon Law.
From Sept. 1997 to Oct. 2002 he studied in K. U. Leuven, Belgium, and graduated in K. U. Leuven, Belgium, in Oct. 2002, with his doctorate in Canon Law.
On 8 Dec. 1998, he was appointed as director of Sapientia Press House, a Church based publisher.
On 3 Aug. 2002, he founded the Beijing Institute for the Study of Christianity and Culture.
In Nov. 2007, he was nominated vicar general of Beijing diocese.
